About us

The Balule River Lodge in South Africa was founded by three Danish families, who in the late 90s spent a holiday together in South Africa and fell in love with the area around Olifants River. The love of South Africa started a dream of having their own lodge, where they could share their love with other people. The big dream of Africa came true, when Balule River Lodge in 1999 welcomed the first safari guests.

The three Danish families have emphasized on making Balule River Lodge an exclusive, luxurious and yet relaxed safari lodge, where you feel at home and can enjoy all the facilities between the great safari experiences. It is a small lodge with only 7 rooms. This ensures the high level of service and the very personal contact between guests and employees. Today Balule River Lodge is still owned by Danish people, with the same love of South Africa and the same set of values as the founders.
